Mina · Harker

*Mina's sitting on the Mansion patio, reading Plato's Republic. She's read it before, of course, but there was a detail she couldn't quite recall.*

*Mina is sitting in the main room of the Mansion, writing in her ever-present journal, but she's not so engrossed in it that her attention couldn't be diverted. And she's be writing a while, and her hand's cramping a bit, in any case.*

*Mina is, as she is so often, in the library, this time writing in her journal, for she has not left off that habit since arriving in the Mansion. However, she is not so immersed in that work that she would not like company.*

*There is a small, rather nice parlor in one fairly empty corner of the Mansion. On this particular day, Mina happens to be sitting there, reading, with the drapes open and a cup of tea beside her. True, she might be sitting away from the direct path of the sunlight, but it's such a pretty day that such a minor detail is hardly noticeable.*

*Lately, Mina hasn't had much actual time with her husband, for whatever reason. So she's arranged to have them have a nice lunch together in the Mansion kitchen. She's not the best cook imaginable, but she's not horrendous at it either, and she's managed to assemble a nice array of foods. And she's put a vase of flowers on the table and gotten dressed somewhat nicely, and is waiting for Jonathan, a smile on her face.*

*She's in the library, searching for a book. She's reread all the Shakespeare, you see, and the Greek tragedy, and Lucy's wretched Jane Austen, and even Marcus Aurelius, and she has no idea what to read next. Someone to either recommend a book to her or distract her from her curret, book-less state would be nice.*

*Mina is in the library, and has happened upon a copy of "Interview with the Vampire". Frowning, she takes it off the shelf, curious as to what such a thing could possibly be about, and opens it.*

*Mina sits alone in a small, secluded corner of the garden. She has a book open on her lap, but she's not reading it. She seems rather contemplative, and she'd like company.*

*The table is set for five, with a teacup and a plate for each. In the center of the table there is a teapot, a plate of various types of cookies, and a vase of flowers that she collected in the garden outside of the Mansion. Having put on the finishing touches, she settles down and waits for her friends to arrive.*

*she arrives on time, of course, knocking on the door to his office precisely when he told her to be there. She's somewhat apprehensive but very curious and quite excited*

*Mina tends to spend more time indoors than outdoors, but it was such a beautiful day. So she's outside, sitting in the grass with her hair down. It's probably not quite proper, as women are supposed to enjoy gardens sitting demurely on benches, as benches were made for sitting in gardens, and they keep one's skirts from ending up around one's knees, as Mina's are at the moment. But at the moment, it doesn't seem to matter so much*

*Mina's in the kitchen, drinking tea and rather wishing she had someone to talk to. It's all very nice, sitting alone and drinking tea, but sometimes one wishes for company. Silence is so quiet.*

*Mina is reading Jane Austen novels in the library. Yes, you did read that sentence correctly. No, she does not like them. She finds them silly and trivial and rather annoying overall. But she's reading them because Lucy did, when they were in school together, and proclaimed them her favorite books. She never read them then, as she was at the time trying to get through Aristotle's work, but feels slightly bad about that now, and so decided that was high time she actually read them.*
